The Kirpilä Art Collection is situated at the top of an apartment block, on the sixth floor. 

Accessibility

The Kirpilä Art Collection is not an accessible space. The collection is housed in a former home that takes up 350 square metres over eight rooms.

  • The closest accessible car parking space that can be used with a disabled parking permit is located at Pohjoinen Hesperiankatu 17.
  • At the museum, there are five steps leading up to the front door, with a handrail on both sides.
  • The museum has a doorbell by the building’s front door, labelled “Taidekoti Kirpilä”. It is located on the wall to the left of the door, at a height of 1.48 metres.
  • The building dates from 1934, and it still has the original gate lift, with a doorway width of 65.5 cm. The lift has a handrail on each wall. The top lift button is 143 cm high. The buttons do not have tactile numbers.

Iiris Centre

Getting there

Iiris, a service and activity center for the visually impaired, is located in Helsinki’s Itäkeskus, close to good transport connections.

The nearest public transport stops are Itäkeskus metro station (distance 550 m) and Itäpolku bus stops (200 m).

Accessibility

Iiris facilities are accessible for those using mobility aids. The main entrance leads directly to the space, where the venues are located. Accessible toilets can be found from the first floor.

Bar Tÿpo

Getting there

Tÿpo is located in the Elanto courtyard, on the 1st floor of Tekstin talo. The main entrance is from the inner courtyard. The accessible entrance can be found from the Lintulahdenkatu side.

Sörnäinen metro station is located 500 metres away. The nearest bus and tram stops are Lintulahti and Haapaniemi. Lintulahti is 150 metres and Haapaniemi 300 metres from the entrance.

There are plenty of bicycle racks in the courtyard.

Accessibility

Accessible entrance to Bar Tÿpo premises can be found from the side of Lintulahdenkatu.

The Museum of Technology

Getting there

The Museum of Technology is located in a round yellow building at Viikintie 1d. You can find the Energy hall (Energiasali) and the Yrityskylä in the red brick building in the middle, and the Filter hall (Suodatinhalli) in the red brick building on the side of the dam.

You can easily get to the Museum of Technology by public transport directly from the railway station. You can easily find the right stop, as its name is the Museum of Technology.

  • From railway station bus numbers 55, 71 and 78
  • From Meilahti/Myllypuro bus number 506
  • From Kontula/Munkkiniemi bus number 57

In front of the main building of the Museum of Technology, there are racks for bikes that enable frame locking.

You can find the nearest city bike stations on Katariina Saksilainen street and Verkatehtaanpuisto a short walk away.

Accessibility

The Museum of Technology is located in the museum premises of the Helsinki City Waterworks. The exhibition spaces are not accessible in all respects. More specific information on the accessibility of the venues will be updated here soon.

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome in the museum.

Kanneltalo

Getting there

Kanneltalo is located in Kannelmäki, adjacent to Kannelmäki railway station and off Sitratori. You can easily reach Kanneltalo with I- and P-trains & buses 41, 42, 43 and 56. 

Accessibility

Kanneltalo offers unimpeded access by ramp via the main entrance at Sitratori and the entrance on Klaneettitie. If you arrive via the entrance on Klaneettitie, contact the doorman by means of the entrance telephone by the door. The doorman will open the door and provide assistance if needed.

  • Unimpeded access to the ticket office.
  • Unimpeded access indoors and outdoors with level corridors and pathways.
  • Toilet for disabled persons, including care table, in lobby.
  • Facilities clearly signposted in Finnish and Swedish.
  • The theatre and concert hall has areas reserved for four wheelchairs. Those planning to arrive by wheelchair should notify the staff at the time of purchasing their ticket. Upon arrival, you may contact the doorman in advance.
  • The theatre and concert hall has grounded power outlets.
  • The facilities are equipped with an induction loop.

Baltic Circle office

Getting there

Baltic Circle’s office is located in Töölö, near the eastern end of Hesperia esplanade at Töölönkatu 11 A. The closest bus stop for buses going to the city center is “Hesperian puisto”, and it’s on Mannerheimintie, about 100 meters from the office. The nearest tram stops (trams 1, 2, 4, 8 & 10) are Töölöntori and Apollonkatu, 450 meters away from the office. The distance from the closest metro station (Kamppi) is 900m (takes less than 15 minutes to walk). 

Accessibility

A festival employee will always open the door for visitors. If you get inside the building, ring the office doorbell.

  • The outside entrance to the building has two doors and the doors are heavy.
  • The office door is on the right at the top of seven stairs. There is a handrail on the right side of the stairs. 
  • There is a wheelchair lift on the left side of the stairs. 
  • There is a small threshold in the doorway to the office. 
  • There are gender-neutral toilets in the office, but they are not accessible.
  • The office floors are even and smooth.
