Forevermore

Forevermore articulates the shapes, gestures, and actions of the intimate, eros and erotic at the threshold of dancing.

The work portrays timeless and persistent directions of desire. The glance moves from the inner thighs, towards the iliac crest and the lower abdomen; then suddenly from the collarbones to the Cupid’s bow. Breathing pauses. Tensions build and subside, fade, repeat, and repeat again. The body of the performer attempts to locate the romantic-erotic thirst.

Dance is eros, a force that pulls the self out of itself. Cupid is a naked honey thief.

The performance is inspired by Byung-Chul Han’s The Agony of Eros.

Kauri Sorvari is a performer and dance maker based in Helsinki and Berlin.

They are in their element working across the fields of performance art as part of various collectives, institutions, and working cultures. As a performer, Sorvari has been seen in works by Janina Rajakangas, Essi Rossi, Suvi Kemppainen, André Uerba, Jules Fischer, Liisa Pentti, Vilma Tihilä, and WAUHAUS, among others. Sorvari’s most recent choreographic works are Af Klint at Teatteri Viirus, Labia, and Elolliset at Helsinki City Theatre.

Sorvari loves the stage as a place, and the intoxicating potential of the performance situation. They are drawn to thinking through dance, corporeal poetics, and the performer’s sensing, experiencing intelligence. They have studied dance, classical music, and music theatre both in Finland and abroad.
