I AM A MONUMENT

A self-portrait, a lost slide show, a voluntary mutant running a treadmill. A noise band, a bad actor, a sachet of Testogel. A sad song for a dog that died, a happy song for body hair, a poem for racist cappuccino. Categories blur and new continents arise from the unknown. If you wanna know Andy, come see this.

Andy Cadia combines everyday objects, spoken word, and theatrical fragments to create a self-portrait that is at once humorous, intimate, and absurd. The Helsinki-based cross-disciplinary artist and doctoral researcher is interested in exploring the non-binary stage as a platform that resists fixed categories and dismantles binary oppositions. What ensues is an atmosphere that shape-shifts across personal anecdotes into a monumental collage of identity.

Towards the end of the evening, the solo spotlight scatters into a canopy of dancing light. With the lead of electronic music artist DJ MALLA, the Harju Morgue converts into a nightclub with the collective purpose of celebrating shared movement, shared joy, and shared sweat.

Andy Cadia is a cross-disciplinary performance artist and doctoral researcher at Uniarts Helsinki. Their research develops the concept of the non-binary stage – a stage that resists fixed categories and opens space for other forms of existence. Working across performance, text, and installation, Cadia draws on feminist, queer and trans theories to address representational politics, gender, and the queer body. At the core of their practice, artistic research acts politically: positioning the non-binary as a force that challenges dominant structures, engages global crises, and imagines other futures.

Malla Malmivaara, known by her artist name MALLA, is a Helsinki-based artist, producer, DJ, and actor, blending house, disco, and other electronic music genres into one. Her music combines infectious rhythms with immersive soundscapes, and draws inspiration from analog synthesizers and drum machines. The electronic music tastemaker’s unique sound resonates across dancefloors and radio channels.

Pyramiderna is an experimental noise collective inspired by Foucault and hardcore punk, creating immersive sonic environments while never performing live. Until now.
