The board of Q-teatteri has appointed Asta Teräväinen as Managing Director of Baltic Circle Festival. Most recently she worked as Communications Designer at EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art.
“Asta Teräväinen has a profound understanding of the art field and its opportunities. Her international experience as well as background in communications are seen as valuable for Baltic Circle,“ says Annukka Pykäläinen, Chair of Q-teatteri’s board.
Teräväinen has started in her position in March. Hanna Parry continues as the festival’s Artistic Director.
“It is a pleasure to join the truly skilled and visionary festival team as well as the broad international community to which the Baltic Circle Festival belongs. As Managing Director, I want to create continuity and carry on with the work that the festival has conducted so far towards sustainable and equal operations. I’m approaching my new role with listening and I believe that active dialogue with the independent arts sector and its stakeholders is the key to developing more sustainable policies,” says Teräväinen.
Q-teatteri and Baltic Circle thank Hanna Nyman who acted as Managing Director from 2015. She continues working at Q-teatteri with strategy development.
“Through her expertise, Hanna Nyman has made it possible to develop the structure of the festival and artistic goals, content and values on a long-term basis. Supported by her vision, the festival has renewed itself. In addition, the whole community at Q-teatteri has gained from Nyman’s professional skills and dedication,” Pykäläinen tells.
The next Baltic Circle International Theatre Festival takes place in Helsinki from November 19–27, 2021. The programme will be published in October. The organisation behind the festival is Q-teatteri ry.
