MDLSX

MDLSX is an explosive sound device, a lysergic and solitary hymn to the freedom of becoming, to gender b(l)ending, to a being that cannot be contained within the borders of the body, skin color, sexual organs, or boundaries of national identity.

It is a road trip of the exceptional performer Silvia Calderoni who – after 10 years with Motus – experiments a DJ/VJ set-like format, in order to start an exploration around borders.

By blurring fiction and reality MDLSX weaves together a kaleidoscopic queer universe. Autobiographical bits and literary evocations come together in a tour de force that exists on the edges; visible and invisible, physical and emotional, splendid and monstrous.

The work of company Motus – founded and directed by Enrico Casagrande and Daniela Nicolò – spans over 25 years and multiplicity of formats: theatre, performance, installation and video as well as seminars and workshops. The company has received numerous prizes in Italy and internationally and toured the world from New York to Buenos Aires, Adelaide to Taipei, Moscow to Tunis as well as all over Europe.

For Motus there is no separation between art and civil engagement; the company has always portrayed some of the most challenging contradictions of the present day. They have worked together with revolutionary artists, writers, philosophers, and activists; engaged with building communities and acted in solidarity with different struggles.
