We aren't born men or women, or boys or girls either. At birth we are a weaving of liquids, solids and gels that are, in turn, covered by a strange organ whose extension and weight is greater than any other: the skin. It is this membrane that takes care of everything it contains, showing the appearance of a single unit that we call BODY.
–Paul B. Preciado
FURIOUS DIASPORA, a quote from Paul B. Preciado’s We Say Revolution is an attempt, at times clumsy, to share a moment of escape from one’s own image, age, social condition, gender; to transform ourselves, to become something or someone else. Sometimes small changes create big transformations. It is precisely these small changes – the habits to move in a certain way, to show off in a certain way, to breathe in a certain way, to feel in a certain way – that we want to explore with the participants.
We ask the participants to come to the workshop with a rather precise idea of a new identity that they will want to take on, with objects and clothes that will help them build it.
It will be through this transformation process, through the work that we will do together in the rehearsal room, that the elements of this new identity will be engaged by steps and degrees; where the appearing and disappearing of gestures and objects will create mirages and transitory illusions.
This is the objective! To find the limit, the border, the critical point where it is possible to glimpse the transformation. We will spend a lot of time on that borderline asking ourselves why as we cross it. Like at the border between two states. From geopolitics to biopolitics.
We will always work in a collaborative way, to build together a forever becoming community, where there won’t be any clear and easily recognizable identities but only moving entities.
